The Sierra Madre Playhouse is pleased to announce that its runaway holiday hit, It's a Wonderful Life will be extended into January. Originally scheduled to close December 23rd, it will return in January for performances on the 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th at 8:00pm, and Sunday, Jan 8th at 2:30pm. This fully staged version was adapted by James W. Rodgers from the Frank Capra movie (which, in turn, was based on a short story by Philip Van Doren Stern). It relates the familiar story of George Bailey, the all-round nice guy who has shelved his dreams to do the "right" thing for his family. It is a daunting task to perform a play based on the Jimmy Stewart movie, but under the direction of Christina Harris, it works. Scott Harris (husband) is comfortable and convincing as George Bailey, partly because he avoids imitating Stewart, but mainly because he is a fine actor with great stage presence, backed up by a cast of experts.
