Joey's journey through the world of music began in the onion fields of Tolleson, AZ, where he was raised. Influenced by the eclectic sounds of R&B, Jazz, Fusion, Mexican Heritage, and Latin pop of the late '60s and '70s, Joey's musical roots run deep. His early passion for music led him to a major record deal with Island Records-Antilles New Direction in New York, resulting in the album "On The Rocks" that blended Funk, R&B, and the fusion sounds of the mid-80s.
As a keyboardist and musical director, Joey toured with renowned recording artists, honing his skills and enriching his musical repertoire. His dedication to his craft led him to study under the guidance of the esteemed "El Maestro" Ernesto Chavarria, further elevating his artistry.
Joey's journey took him to Los Angeles in 2001, where he established himself as a premier keyboardist and producer. Over the years, he has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Tierra, El Chicano, Jeffrey Osborne, Sister Sledge, and many more. His impressive musical achievements include co-writing songs for Ersi Arvizu's album "Friend for Life," produced by Ry Cooder, and his participation in the recording of Grover Washington's "Strawberry Moon."
