Expect the cello doing something you don't often hear: the vocal style of raga. Raga is the melodic framework at the heart of Indian classical music. Cellist Jake Charkey has spent years adapting the cello to Hindustani music, and his album Rasika pairs the tradition with new works for cello.

He plays here with Chris Votek and Neelamjit Dhillon. This concert is part of our Indian Classical Music series, curated by Neelamjit Dhillon and Chris Votek. Bring a musician friend who wants to hear something new.
