Trumpeter Nolan Shaheed grew up in Pasadena and played lead trumpet with the Count Basie Orchestra and with the Duke Ellington Orchestra under Mercer Ellington. He has also been music director for Marvin Gaye and has worked with Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross. If you've heard big-band records, this is a chance to hear the horns live.
