Expect to grip your armrest. The flying scenes in this film still make people gasp.

Two young pilots go to war in the air, carrying friendship, rivalry, and romance into a fight bigger than themselves. Wings won the very first Best Picture Oscar. Director William Wellman flew in World War I himself, and he put real pilots in real planes in the sky. Clara Bow and Buddy Rogers star, with a very young Gary Cooper in a small part. Piano accompaniment by Larry Garf, with a discussion from Rich Procter.

A hundred years later, filmmakers still watch this and ask, "How did he do that?"

Buddy Rogers is back in June opposite Mary Pickford in My Best Girl. Come see him in a lighter role.
