Benjamin Perez

PASAJE! Director Benjamin Perez is also a singer, actor, and voice over artist, born in Montebello, CA and raised in Hacienda Heights. He studied Music Performance and Theater Arts under Ben Bollinger at Citrus College in Azusa, and was part of the renowned Citrus Singers. He performed around the world as a lead singer for Princess Cruises, and worked in many regional theaters in L.A. and across the United States. In 2011, he joined the national tour of IN THE HEIGHTS, working with the pre-"Hamilton" creative team of Thomas Kail, Andy Blankenbuehler, Alex Lacamoire and creator/star Lin-Manuel Miranda. He has since directed 4 sold-out productions of ITH in La Mirada, Long Beach, Rancho Cucamonga, and Claremont, California. He Co-Directed the original musical "TENOR BY NIGHT" written by Chinese opera sensation James Chiao. He won accolades for his direction of the short play, "ZADDY" in 2019's Brown and Out" Festival of Works. He is thrilled to be a part of this exciting new work about his Mexican-American culture, set in his nearby community of El Monte. "All stories matter, especially the ones you've not experienced yet."
