Neelamjit Dhillon

Neelamjit Dhillon is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Vancouver Canada, he is both a saxophonist, fluent in American Jazz, and a Tabla player steeped in the North Indian Classical tradition. Neelamjit has attended Ustad Zakir Hussain’s tabla workshop for over 20 years.
After earning his doctorate in music from the California Institute of the Arts, Neelamjit premiered his acclaimed multimedia composition Komagatu Maru at the prestigious REDCAT theater, “a gorgeous exploration of South Asian–inflected jazz”. His music is a reflection of his own multifaceted identity, spirituality, and vision for promoting a more equitable and just society through shared experience and collective action.
Neelamjit has composed, arranged, and performed for Disney parks worldwide including Jungle Book: Alive with Magic, which was seen by nearly half a million people and performed at the White House for Michelle Obama. He also recorded for Disney Jr.’s groundbreaking animated series ‘Mira, Royal Detective’.
