Comedy at the Playhouse is a monthly series of comedy shows, bringing some of the best comedians working today to your favorite historic theater.

Is there anything more fun than watching good friends perform on the same bill? The answer is no, no there’s not. Melissa Villaseñor and Steven Castillo are kindred spirits who found themselves working together on Saturday Night Live. Their shared silly sense of humor is sure to put you in a good mood. Their friend David Erick Ramos will kick off the evening with a short musical set featuring the ocarina.

Steven Castillo is not your father’s standup comedian. He is most famously known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he was a writer. His work includes off-the-wall sketches like “Weezer,” “Stu,” and “Tiny Horse.” Steven's work isn't limited to behind the scenes. You've seen him on screen in his performances alongside Anna Kendrick in HBO's Love Life and Billy Crystal in the film Here Today. Steven will dazzle the crowd with his unforgettable multimedia comedy. It's guaranteed to make you laugh so hard you pee and cry so hard you pee again. He currently co-hosts the “2 Amigos” podcast with Melissa Villaseñor.

Melissa Villaseñor is from Whittier, CA and is a stand-up comedian, actress, voice impressionist, and visual artist who broke barriers by becoming the first-ever Latina cast member of Saturday Night Live. Melissa has voiced characters for Toy Story 4, Wreck It Ralph 2, Rock Paper Scissors on Nickelodeon, Disney’s Primos, and Cartoon Network’s OK K.O.! She has also filmed episodes for Comedy Central’s Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, HBO’s Crashing and Barry, Freeform’s Alone Together, and of course Saturday Night Live. On Netflix, you can catch her on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, The Stand Ups on Netflix, and cat owner Karen in Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween. Melissa made her start as a semifinalist on America’s Got Talent in 2011 and has continued to tour internationally - headlining stand-up comedy clubs, colleges, and theaters. In 2022, Melissa released her first book filled with her art and self help activities called Whoops I’m Awesome!

David Erick Ramos is a Los Angeles-based ocarina specialist, composer, and educator who has been performing and teaching the ocarina for nearly 20 years.
