About

About Bob Baker Marionette Theater

In 1963, Bob Baker and his partner Alton Wood embarked on a mission to transform a run-down scenic shop near downtown Los Angeles into an enduring family entertainment institution. Today, the Bob Baker Marionette Theater stands as an official Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, recognized for its remarkable contributions to the cultural heritage of the city.

For over half a century, the Theater has captivated the hearts of children and families with original puppetry shows that range from classics like Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" to a musical journey through the vibrant history of Los Angeles. The legacy of Bob Baker lives on through the hands and hearts of our dedicated puppeteers and staff.
