About

Synopsis
Maria Callas, the legendary opera diva, commands the stage in a Juilliard masterclass where she offers cutting, humorous, and deeply insightful critiques to her students. While guiding her pupils—each with their own hopes and flaws—Callas reflects on her triumphs and tragedies, from her metamorphosis into a star to her volatile relationship with Aristotle Onassis. Through sharp wit and raw vulnerability, Callas reveals the personal and professional sacrifices required to pursue greatness.

Tony Award®-Winning Drama
Written by four-time Tony Award® winner Terrence McNally, Master Class won the 1996 Tony Award® for Best Play. Inspired by Maria Callas’ legendary Juilliard masterclasses, the play offers a poignant look at her life, career, and relentless pursuit of excellence.
