Comedy at the Playhouse, co-presented with Petty Victories, is a monthly series of comedy shows bringing some of the best comedians working today to your favorite historic theater. This month's event is brought to you for FREE (with reservations) by Netflix Is A Joke Festival!
Our host Jenny Yang is a standup comedian, actor, and tv writer who was named one of Variety's Top Ten Comics to Watch and has been featured at Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the San Francisco Sketch Festival, and Netflix is a Joke Festival. Jenny is a former labor organizer who was born in Taiwan and raised in Los Angeles, and stars opposite Michelle Yeoh as an assassin in the Netflix action comedy-drama series, The Brothers Sun. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Dropout’s Smarty Pants, was a Staff Writer for The Late Late Show with James Corden, and wrote for NPR’s “Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!”, the ESPYs, and Wieden+Kennedy’s “Lost in McDonaldland” YouTube series. Most recently, he was a Story Editor on Seth MacFarlane’s animated TV series “Ted”. Fumi has opened for national headliners such as Ronny Chieng, Ilana Glazer, Iliza Shlesinger, Tom Papa, and Hannah Berner.
Megan Gailey is a writer, actor, and comedian, originally from Indiana and now based in Los Angeles. Her latest special “Live From My Driveway” was executive produced by Chelsea Handler. Gailey’s credits include WGA Award–nominated series Pause with Sam Jay for HBO, The ESPY Awards, Lights Out with David Spade, and Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik. She has also developed scripted shows for ABC and Amazon. Since being named a “New Face” at the Just for Laughs Festival in 2015—and her subsequent stand-up television appearances on Conan, The Tonight Show, and The Half Hour for Comedy Central—Gailey has been consistently headlining clubs, colleges, and festivals across the country.
Ryan Goodcase is a stand-up comedian who has been praised for his smart writing and dry delivery. In 2019, Ryan became the youngest person to win the World Series of Comedy. Since then, he has also won the 45th San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2021. He was one of nine comedians selected to be the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Fest's "Introducing,” a showcase of the next great talents in comedy. A clip from his Netflix Is a Joke’s Introducing… set had an amazing viral moment and currently has over 48M views. His Don't Tell Comedy set was released June 2024. You may also recognize him as the actor playing an apathetic Bed, Bath & Beyond employee in a series of comedic online commercials. His debut comedy special, “Maybe They're Dead” can be streamed online.
Erica Rhodes is a comedian and actor with appearances on America's Got Talent, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Modern Family, Veep, New Girl, and NBC's Bring the Funny, among others.
