Film historian Lara Gabrielle will be your guide, introducing these cinematic gems and sharing insights into the era. The festivities kick off with a gala presentation of Harold Lloyd's timeless classics, "Girl Shy" and "Hot Water," introduced by Harold Lloyd's granddaughter, Suzanne Lloyd Hayes.


Curated by Lara Gabrielle, a distinguished biographer and Marion Davies expert, this festival promises a journey through history and a celebration of the magic of silent cinema. Don't miss this extraordinary event that brings the past to life through the magic of film and live music.

6:15 PM: "The Bees Knees" The Playhouse's Centennial Celebration Gala, featuring a 1920's speakeasy and champagne dinner!

Join us for a dazzling evening at "The Bees Knees," a Roaring 20s-themed gala centennial celebration at the Sierra Madre Playhouse on February 3. Revel in the nostalgia of the silent film era and honor film preservationist Suzanne Lloyd. TICKETS are $100/guest and your experience includes:

  • 4:00 PM: Screening of Harold Lloyd's classic silent film Safety Last!

  • 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Exclusive round-table discussion with Suzanne Lloyd and Lara Gabrielle.

  • 6:15 PM: Cross over to Roe Fusion for the "The Bees Knees" gala event, featuring a champagne dinner and speakeasy with Roaring 20s themed cocktails and a menu that transports you back in time.

  • 8:00 PM: Return to the Playhouse for the screening of Hot Water, another of Harold Lloyd's masterpieces.


Dress in your 1920s best, from flapper dresses to fedoras, and immerse yourself in the glamour and elegance of the era. Tickets include admission to both film screenings and the gala dinner.
